Frequently asked questions

There are discrepancies between the slope and dimensions of the site described in the AutoCAD file and other sources like the topographic map or Google Earth. Which information is correct?

You should refer to the specifications provided in the AutoCAD (DWG) file, which contains the precise topographic data for a 34×55 meter area with a 15-meter slope, provided by the on-site team. Keep in mind that the characteristics of the terrain should not overly constrain your design, as we are looking for flexible solutions that can be easily adapted with minimal changes to various types of terrain.

From a constructional and structural perspective, is it possible to use materials such as scaffolding pipes, wooden or metal beams? Do all structural elements need to be assembled on-site, or can they be pre-fabricated by specialized labor (e.g., elements requiring welding, etc.)?

Yes, materials like scaffolding pipes, and wooden or metal beams may be used in your design. However, please prioritize the use of locally available materials that can be easily assembled and disassembled by local teams with minimal specialized labor. This approach helps ensure that the structures are practical and feasible to construct and deconstruct within the available resources.

Does the project need to accommodate a total of 200 people, or should it include classrooms for 200 people each?

The project should have a total capacity to accommodate 200 students. As for the classroom layout, there should be 4 large classrooms, each of which should be able to divide into 2 or 3 smaller classrooms. This would result in a total of between 8 and 12 smaller spaces when all classrooms are divided. This way, the space is optimized to flexibly accommodate students according to the needs.

The bathrooms are required to have fairly complex features for a structure that must be disassembled and transported quickly and easily. In this regard, is it possible to use existing functional structures, such as humanitarian containers, as a basic structure, redesigned to fit the layout and design requirements?

Yes, you can use existing functional structures, such as humanitarian containers, as a foundation for your design. The key is to ensure these structures remain transportable, enabling swift assembly and disassembly, while also creating a safe, functional environment for students and educators.

Is the competition limited only to students or professionals?

Our competitions are open to everyone over 18 who wishes to participate and showcase their ideas and solutions to the challenges posed in the competition. Both students and professionals from any discipline: architects, designers, engineers, photographers, etc.

Can I register today and modify my team members later?

Yes, you can always add, remove, or change your team members. You will find a link to do this in the participant area on our website.

How many participants can there be per team? Is individual participation allowed?

Teams can have between 1 and 4 participants, therefore individual participation is completely valid.

After registering, what should I receive?

You should receive two emails at the email address entered during the payment process. The first confirming your payment with an order number you must use to identify your project, and a second welcome email with the link to download the contest material. If after 24 hours you have not received these emails, check your spam folder, and if you can’t find them, contact us via our email: info@schoolsforpalestine.com.

What do I need to submit for the contest?

Participants must send two digital files through the participant area of our website: an “A1 Board” in JPEG or JPG format and a “Project Description” of up to 400 words in PDF format. Both files must be named with the order number that appears in the payment confirmation email you will receive after registering. You can find all the details in the contest briefing under the “Presentation” section.

Can my team submit more than one proposal?

Yes, you can submit as many proposals as you wish, but you will need to register for the contest as many times as you want to submit proposals.

I'm having trouble completing the payment:

Some countries have restrictions on international payments, which could prevent your bank from approving the transaction and hinder successful registration. If this occurs, try registering again using a different credit card, preferably from another bank or one that supports international transactions. If the problem persists, please contact us at info@schoolsforpalestine.com.

I can't find my country among the options during the registration process

In that case, please select any other country (this is only for statistical purposes) and send us an email at info@schoolsforpalestine.com indicating the country you want listed for your team.

What languages are accepted for the submitted materials?

The accepted languages are English and French.
